Norwood Actress Stars In Into The Woods!

Join the Walpole Footlighters for an imaginative tale this October and November! James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim bring favorite storybook characters together for a timeless and relevant piece, resulting in a modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Kelly McGowan returns to the Footlighters stage as Cinderella’s Prince/Florinda, for her 3rd time performing in a Footlighters musical. Kelly was recently nominated for the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres (EMACT) DASH Specialty Ensemble Award for her performance in Gypsy at Mass Arts Center. She says, “The audience will enjoy the humor contrasted with deeper human emotions and high stakes. This play walks the line of tragedy and comedy very closely.”
The Footlighters similarly celebrated wins at the EMACT DASH Awards in August, taking home 8 awards for their Fall 2023 musical She Loves Me. The awards included: Best Production of a Musical (She Loves Me); Outstanding Performance by a Cast (She Loves Me); Direction (Doug Hodge); Choreography (Doug Hodge); Stage Management (Linda Berman); Sound Design (Linda Berman); Set Design (Rebecca Warde); Set Dressing (Rebecca Warde).
Into the Woods promises to be another dazzling musical on the Footlighters stage. Performances of Into the Woods are at the Walpole Footlighters Playhouse at 2 Scout Road in East Walpole.
