Fantasy Footsteps Live at NHS!
Since 2005, the Norwood Backstage Boosters has been producing Fantasy Footsteps. The proceeds from the program help to fund scholarships for graduating seniors who are part of Norwood drama productions. The program was originally performed outside but after a few years of snow, rain, and miserable weather, the program was moved indoors to the Savage Center. During, Covid the event turned the program into a short film where we had the audience viewed the plays on a large outdoor movie screen. This was fun, but just not the same as the live theatre experience and in 2023, the program was brought back live at the Norwood High School.
Audiences are led in small groups through the hallways of the high school by a costumed guide. Through their walk, they see six funny fairy tale performances that have been written by Dean Calusdian. The talented student actors are from the Norwood Public Schools and range from fourth to twelve grades. For some of our students, this is a first theatre experience and some are seasoned pros, coming back year after year to be a part of this terrific program.
Fantasy Footsteps has a very lively atmosphere and is a great family night out. While waiting to start their tour, folks are entertained with facepainting, games, and music in the gymnasium. the program will run on Oct. 19, 25, and 26, 6-7:15 p.m., Norwood High School, 245 Nichols St. Tickets are $10 each, with a $50 cap per family, and sold at the door. Cash only. All proceeds donated to the Backstage Boosters Scholarship Fund.
