Music is Back!

A quintessential New England summer evening; music on a picturesque town common. Norwood has this event more than covered, thanks to its charming communal venue and to the many volunteers who bring music to town for all to enjoy. In total, there are three concerts held on the Norwood Town Common throughout the summer: Concerts on the Common, Carillon Concerts, and Summerfest.
Should any Norwood resident know or meet a Norwood Concert Committee Member, thanking them should be a must:

There are three evenings, each with a unique style and repertoire to embrace and introduce all venues of music for all ages.
Sunday Concerts on the Common
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Concerts on the Common is marking its 30th season at the Walter J. Dempsey Memorial Bandstand on the town common. Every Sunday evening throughout the summer, residents bring folding chairs and blankets and listen to period music, from marches, to swing, to jazz. July 7: Compaq Big Band

Monday Carillon Concerts
6:30-7:30 p.m.

Rain or Shine
The Carillon Concerts on the Common have returned for its 39th year! The carillon, Norwood’s hidden instrumental gem, is a 50-bell instrument located in the Memorial Municipal Building (Town Hall) tower. The carillon was a gift to the town by Walter F. Tilton, at the time of the building’s original construction in 1928.

These groups often provide sounds from different musical eras or cultures and have the audience on their feet dancing, or at least tapping their feet and bobbing their heads, to familiar music, past and present.
