Gifts for Kids is Accepting Holiday Donations
By Bella Caggiano
Local families need your help. For many local residents, the holidays can be financially challenging, especially for families with children. It doesn’t take much to put a smile on a child’s face this season, and Gifts for Kids offers a great resources to make that happen.
Since 1990, this non-profit, all volunteer organization has reached out to the Norfolk County community to solicit donations for families who struggle to give holiday gifts for their children. Through their efforts and the generosity of neighbors, grants, organizational funding, and more than 100 classroom drives, Gifts for Kids provides support to more than 1,200 children annually Families are identified by human service providers in the local area.
In previous years, donors were matched with individual children for specific gift items, however, with COVID concerns last year and precautions taken this year, the organization will again distribute gift cards to parents/guardians. Monetary donations will be converted into gift cards and delivered to affiliated social service agencies for distribution.
The process has changed, but the mission of Gifts for Kids of providing a happy holiday for as many local children as possible remains the same. Donations of all denominations are welcome. As a special Holiday Giver, the donor’s name will be displayed on the organization’s website and through social media and will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
