The activity on the Norwood municipal parking lot one day every June takes on a very different look than your typical car wash. While automobiles are receiving a good wash, it’s the four-legged canines that draw a double take. Yes, on Sunday, June 6, the Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC) is hosting is Annual Dog/Car Wash!
Volunteers take time out of their busy Sunday to help raise funds for the organization, but the event also offers more than Fido and his car receiving a good spring cleaning. The Dirty Dawg Wash will graciously give their time cutting dog nails, and a veterinarian and a BSAC veterinary technician are donating their services to give out rabies vaccinations and microchipping. The schedule for the day is as follows:
Car Wash: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ($10)
Dog Wash: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ($8)
Rabies Clinic: 10-11:30 a.m. ($10)
Microchipping: 10-11:30 a.m. ($20)
Nail Clipping: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ($5)
This fundraiser is not only a successful resource for the BSAC, it is a fun and eventful day for all involved; volunteers, residents, dog owners, children, and the community who truly seem to enjoy taking in the unusual site!
The Bay State Animal Cooperative is a no-kill rescue organization that also provides humane resources and services aimed at reducing animal overpopulations and unnecessary suffering for companion, stray, relinquished and feral animals. It also works with local municipalities and the community to develop and implement programs, including but not limited to:
Low-cost spay/neuter assistance
Lot-cost medical care
Trap-neuter-return (TNR)
Community outreach programs and events
Rescue, shelter, and adoption
Fundraising events
Their services are entirely funded by donations and operates completely with volunteers. The BSAC is a 501)3 charitable/non-profit organizations. All donations are tax deductible.
