A message from the Norwood Police Department

With warmer weather we start to see a rise in home improvement related scams. Some residents have lost A LOT of money. Here are a few things to be wary of:

• Beware of people coming to your home unsolicited, offering to do work the same day for a discount.
• Trustworthy contractors provide a written estimate valid for a period of time. Be wary of someone looking to be hired on the spot.
• Be on the lookout for out of state vehicles or unmarked work trucks.
• If you do hire a contractor or worker, ask for a local reference and a proof of insurance.
Please keep an eye on your elderly neighbors and family who may be more likely to be victimized. As always, feel free to call us if something just doesn’t add up!
