Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day

Honor Norwood’s veterans virtually or on an individual stroll through town.
With the current health standards from the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, the Norwood Veteran’s Day parade has been cancelled. Ted Mulvehill, Director of Norwood Veterans Services, in conjunction with Norwood Community Media (NCM), will be promoting and airing an online Veteran’s service which can be viewed on Norwood’s community TV stations (Verizon, 35, HD2135, Comcast 8, Norwood Light Broadband, 23, HD623.) For more information on Norwood’s local tv stations and its programming, visit www.norwoodcommunitymedia.org.

Local residents, however, have an opportunity to commend their Norwood veterans on Nov. 11 (and any day), by visiting the many memorial sites situated throughout Norwood neighborhoods (listed on page 18). In total, there are 48 plaques commemorating these brave soldiers as well as Morse Hill Veterans’ Memorial, Veterans of Foreign Wars Square, and Disabled American Veterans Memorial Park.

While coming together on this patriotic day provides a time for citizens and families to stop and show their gratitude and gratefulness of these dedicated veterans, these plaques scattered amidst Norwood streets and intersections, provide an avenue to honor their memories and their sacrifice to their country.
