Norwood's Historic Season Comes to an End in Bourne

Norwood's historic season as Bay State Champions, came to an end Thursday night in Bourne, as the Mustangs fell to the Natick Red and Blue, 1-0, in the Division 1 South Sectional Semi-finals.

It ends the inspiring career of so many Norwood seniors including Matt Brown, who had hopes of winning a championship with this year's team.

"They're a special team, they really are," said head coach Bill Clifford. "They would have like to have gotten a bit further but they were a great group."

T.O.N.Y. Award Nominees Announced

Orient Masonic Lodge in Norwood is proud to announce the list of
nominees for this year’s Ten Outstanding Norwood Youth Awards for
2012. Now in its 42nd year, the T.O.N.Y. Awards has continued to
annually recognize Norwood residents in grades 10-12 who make
significant contributions of time, effort, and talent to volunteerism,
church, and other charitable causes.  This marks the 17th year the
Norwood Masons have been involved in running the program and hosting
an annual awards banquet in honor of the nominees.

Mustang's Boy's Hockey Has the Speed to Win

Hockey has arrived in Norwood just as the northern cold air trickles down from Canada. But Norwood is one of the few towns, which embrace such conditions because it means that Hockey is back in town.

This year the boy’s team, coached by Bill Clifford, returns ten seniors to the team, which will be one of the fastest in recent memory.

“Our asset is our speed, we can beat a lot of teams to the puck, which will give us some scoring opportunities,” said Clifford.

Special Town Meeting Wraps Up Business - Nov 28

Norwood town meeting members gathered to discuss appropriating funds for enhanced police and firefighter equipment and transfers of funds to cover unpaid bills and worker’s compensation claims at a second Special Town Meeting on Nov. 28 at the Norwood High School.

At the beginning of the meeting Congressman Stephen Lynch visited to give an update on Congress’ deficit-reduction super committee and recent federal grants that will benefit Norwood.
